Teen certified as adult for robbing elderly person

A judge has certified a Cameron County teenager as an adult for robbing an elderly homeowner at knifepoint.

Juvenile Justice Judge Menton Murray certified Nathaniel Martinez as an adult on an aggravated robbery charge.

No court dates were immediately available for Martinez but the Cameron County District Attorney TMs Office released some details.

The DA TMs office reported that the knifepoint irobbery happened off Sylvia Lane in Brownsville back on January 26th.

Martinez, Misael Rubio and Helio Martinez allegedly held the homeowner at knifepoint.

They three allegedly ransacked the home and ran off with a plasma TV but were caught nearby.

Rubio was 16 years old at the time of the crime but was also certified as an adult in May.

According to District Attorney TMs Office figures, Martinez is the eighth teen to be certified as an adult for a crime in Cameron County.
