Teen convicted in Harlingen teacher's murder

A Harlingen teen has been convicted in the murder of Harlingen High School South drama teacher John Farr.

A Cameron County jury returned with a guilty verdict on a murder charge for 17-year-old Francisco Dominguez.

But the jury found Dominguez not guilty of capital murder.

The teen's trial started in the 357th State District Court on Monday, May 24th.

Jurors began deliberations in the case late Friday morning and continued again on Tuesday morning.

Jurors came back with their mixed verdict shortly before 11 a.m. Tuesday.

Sentencing is expected to start at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Dominguez was arrested for the June 2008 death of drama teacher John Farr.

Although Dominguez was 16 years old at the time of the alleged crime, he was later certfied as an adult.

The Harlingen teen maintained that he was defending himself from Farr.
