Teen identified as driver in fatal wrong-way collision
The driver of a Chevy Cobalt involved in Friday TMs fatal collision has been identified as a 19-year-old.
Texas Department of Public Safety said John Robert Smith died after he drove his car the wrong way through expressway traffic.
According to DPS, Smith was traveling south on the northbound lane of Expressway 77/83 in Brownsville.
That TMs when he hit an 18-wheeler on the side and struck a Cadillac Escalade.
An autopsy and toxicology has been ordered and will be pending the results.
The other victims in the accident have since been released from the hospital.
The case remains under investigation.
