It's a startling statistic, Trooper Johnny Hernandez with the Department of Public Safety tells Action 4 News, "Hidalgo County is one of the top 5 counties that teenagers are not buckling up so that TMs why we TMre doing this to advice teenagers it TMs important to buckle up."

That TMs why on Thursday night local law enforcement decided to let teens know about Click It Or Ticket. Teens from across the Valley showed up to the event over in McAllen and the idea behind this is, for them to pledge to buckle up. What they saw, were grim reminders and horrific visuals of what could happen if they don't wear a seatbelt
Student Ana Deleon from McAllen High School tells Action 4 News, "When I was a kid I was in a car crash, the car did go rolling and rolling." Because she was buckled up, she TMs happy to be alive. State Representative Ryan Guillen also made an appearance to encourage teens, he said it will take all of us working together to make a change. "It's crucial that we continue to remain at the forefront of the issue and we must keep advocacy of the issue ever present."
The event was a clear message to teens that buckling up can really save lives.
