Teen with previous assault record arrested for punching girlfriend

Harlingen Police Department arrested a man for assault.

It started when Andrew Lawrence Garcia and his girlfriend got in an argument on Friday, May 3rd.

The 19-year-old allegedly then punched her in the face with a closed fist twice, causing her to bleed.

The victim, his girlfriend, allegedly had a swollen cheek because of the blow to her face.

Local EMS transported her to Valley Baptist where she received medical treatment for the alleged assault.

Garcia was arrested by U.S. Marshall TMs on Wednesday, May 8th.

The man has previous convictions that include family violence assault.

If convicted, he will be charged with a 3rd Degree Felony because of his past record.

His bond is set at $45,000.
