Teenage girl met child porn suspect on "party line"

Court records filed in the case against Gonzalez

A Harlingen man facing child pornography charges met a teenage girl on a party line where she allegedly lied about her age.

Harlingen police arrested 30-year-old Ray Gonzalez on a child pornography charge over the weekend.

Court records released on Tuesday morning show that Gonzalez and the girl met on a party line where people call and meet through telephone conversations back in 2011.

The girl told police that she was 15 years old at the time but lied to Gonzalez and told him she was 18 years old.

The records show that the two started dating but Gonzalez asked her on several occasions if she was really 18 or not.

The girl told police that each time, she would tell him that she was 18 years old.

According to the court records, the girl sent 15 to 20 pictures of herself both clothed and nude to Gonzalez.

Those photos came to light during a March 22nd traffic stop by a Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) state trooper.

Records show that the girl was driving off and that Gonzalez was her passenger.

A state trooper pulled the girl over for failing to use a turn signal during a lane change off M Street and the frontage road of Expressway 77/83.

It was during that traffic stop that the state trooper started to ask why 30-year-old Gonzalez was with the 16-year-old girl.

Gonzalez allegedly gave the state trooper consent to search his cell phone and that TMs when the images were discovered.

The Harlingen man is now free on a $30,000 dollar bond.
