Be careful on the roads this holiday season.
Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) will be increasing patrol from December 21 to January 1 to crack down on DWI cases.
Troopers will be taking extra precaution, looking out for drivers who have been drinking and driving.
They will be focusing their patrol at high risk locations where alcohol-related crashes are frequent.
Drinking and driving are always a concern during holidays, and there is no doubt that increased enforcement by DPS and other law enforcement will help save lives, said DPS Director Steve McCraw. But the public must also do their part to help make sure all travelers on our roads have a safe and happy holiday season.
The funds for this extra patrol are provided by the Texas Department of Public Transportation.
