Texas Rangers offer $6,000 reward for information on Starr County murder
The Texas Department of Public Safety offered a $6,000 reward Thursday for tips about an unsolved murder in Starr County.
The Texas Ranger Unsolved Crimes Investigation Program solicited tips about the murder of Laura Guadalupe Guerra, who went missing in May 1990. She was found dead three days later in a wooded area across from the Rio Motel, 1111 W. Main St., Rio Grande City, according to a news release from the agency.
"Guerra, 22, had been shot to death and investigators believe she was murdered at another location, possibly the hotel, and her body was dumped in the wooded area," according to the news release.
Investigators believe someone known at the time as "Gaston Garza" or "Mariano" may have information about the murder, according to the news release.
To claim the $6,000 reward, the tipster must call (800) 252-TIPS before the Department of Public Safety features a new unsolved murder next month. Tipsters may also submit information through the Department of Public Safety website.
