Two men are behind bars but authorities are searching for an alleged Texas Syndicate member for his role in the bat and tire-iron beating of a party guest in Port Isabel.
Investigators told Action 4 News that three men beat the party guest on December 21st.
The victim was hospitalized but is now recovering at home.
Port Isabel police identified three suspects in the case:
- Christopher Ochoa
- Wenceslao Wence Guillen
- Samuel Leal
Authorities arrested Ochoa on aggravated assault and engaging in organized crime charges on December 28th.
Guillen reportedly led Texas Department of Public Safety state troopers on a chase on New Year TMs Day.
Investigators said Guillen managed to escape but was injured and had to check himself in to a local hospital where authorities arrest him.
Guillen is expected to be arraigned on Friday under aggravated assault and engaging in organized criminal activity charges.
Port Isabel police previously arrested Guillen on an attempted murder charge after allegedly being involved in a stabbing outside a convenience store last year.
Investigators said they are still searching for Leal, who they believe may be in the Harlingen area.
Port Isabel police told Action 4 News that Guillen and Leal are both members of the Texas Syndicate prison gang.
Authorities said Leal is considered armed and dangerous and not to be approached.
Anyone with information about is whereabouts is asked to call the Port Isabel Police at (956) 943-1242.
