Authorities have made a third arrest in connection to an ongoing investigation of a fake botox scheme.
Hidalgo County Sheriff's Office deputies and FBI agents arrested 37-year-old Elva Navarro on Monday night.
Navarro is accused of practicing medicine without a license.
Court records show Navarro was working at the Bella Face and Beauty Spa off North 10th Street in McAllen.
That's where Navarro allegedly injected a woman in the buttocks with an unknown polymer substance back in October.
The woman, who had paid $750 for the treatment, underwent numerous surgeries and spent 17 days in the intensive care unit.
Sheriff Lupe Trevio said the arrest is the latest in a series of arrests for unlicensed and clandestine doctors and dentists in Hidalgo County.
Navarro appeared before a judge at the Hidalgo County Jail on Tuesday morning where she was issued a $500,000 bond.
