Three men arrested for armed robbery

Hidalgo County Sheriff Investigators are searching for a group of men who allegedly robbed a home just north of Mission last night. According to Sheriff Lupe Trevino a group of armed men burst into a home located on 3800 block of Mauren Street North of Mission. The sheriff said the men stole items from the home.While investigating that robbery---the taskforce was led to another property on the corner of Monterey and Monte Cristo--near Edinburg.Trevino said SWAT team and deputies set-up surveillance in the area.A warrant was served this morning and three men are now under arrest.Despite the arrest--this incident remains under investigation. This robbery is the most recent in a string of aggravated robberies that have been reported in Hidalgo County during the month of January. In an effort to combat this growing trend the Hidalgo County Sheriff's department has created a permanent armed robbery task force unit.On Jan. 27, just south of Donna a man was shot in the head, but nothing was taken from his home.On Jan. 17, a group of four to five men entered a home on Mile 10 North of Mercedes. They fired one shot to broke down the door, kicked open the door and threatened the life's of the five family members. The armed men took money and some electronics.On the 22nd, the newly formed armed robbery task force arrested seven suspects linked to the Firebird Ice House drive-thru in Donna that happened on January 17th.On Jan. 7, JR's Mini Mart was also a target in Weslaco.Click here to follow Veronica on FacebookClick here to follow Veronica on Twitter
