Thunderstorms roll into Cameron County

A band of scattered showers and thunderstorms rolled into Cameron County late Thursday morning.

The National Weather Service reports that the storms originated in the Gulf of Mexico and are headed inland.

The storms are expected to produce brief but locally heavy rains.

Lightning and thunder have been reported as the storms head west.

The National Weather Service expects storms to continue along the Highway 77 corridor through 2 p.m. Thursday.
