'Time-ticking' bomb under investigation

Alamo police are investigating who put a mysterious package in the bathroom of Memorial High School in Alamo.

Alamo Police Chief Art Espinoza told Action 4 News that they are currently reviewing surveillance video in the area of the school where the bomb was found in a zip lock bag.

Authorities are interviewing students who were in the area where the bomb was found.

The suspect is believed to be a student, according to Alamo police.

The entire campus was evacuated after student Isaac Garza found the device.

Garza reported the package to the principal and students were taken to the gymnasium after being put on lockdown.

Students were then let out early from school and parents were notified.

Alamo police called the McAllen bomb squad.

Officers suited up with protective gear.

The device was destroyed and cleared from the building, according to police.
