A man is behind bars after he allegedly robbed a candy store last week.
Weslaco police said a tip helped catch 30-year-old Mario Diaz Jr. of Edinburg.
On March 27, a man went into the Dulceria El Rio Bravo and tried to rob the store with a knife.
Store owner Jose Torres attempted to pull a gun on the thief but the suspect was able to make off with all the money in the register and the gun.
"I'm glad he's caught that he's not going to do any harm to anybody, Torres said.
Diaz is in the Hidalgo County Jail with a $250,000 bond.
