Tip leads to illegal immigrant stash house in Weslaco

17 immigrants are now in custody

Authorities responded to a tip that led them to an illegal immigrant stash house in Weslaco.

The incident happened at 10 a.m. Wednesday after a resident in the area called authorities about a possible stash house on Mile 13 and 1015.

As authorities arrived at the scene, they saw two people flee eastbound of the area.

According to Hidalgo County Constable, there were around 30 illegal immigrants that fled the scene, and 17 are currently in custody.

The 17 illegal immigrants are now in custody of the U.S. Customs and Border Patrol.

A 16-and 17-year-old are among the group of immigrants.

Authorities told Action 4 News that the immigrants are from Guatemala, El Salvador and Mexico.

The Hidalgo County Sheriff TMs Department, CBP and Precinct 1 Constables assisted in the stash house

The incident is under investigation at this time.

No arrests have been made.
