Authorities are investigating three separate arrests where men from Matamoros tried to smuggle cocaine in toolboxes.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) made three similar, but separate arrests at international bridges in Brownsville on Thursday.

Court records show that in each arrest, the men tried to smuggle cocaine into the United States by hiding it in toolboxes in their vehicles.

      The suspects were identified as:

      Jesus Roberto Cruz-Rangel Rolando Ortiz-Sanchez Salvador Marifileno-Flores

All three men appeared in separate criminal cases before U.S. Magistrate Judge Felix Recio in Brownsville on Friday morning.

Records show that all three men are Mexican nationals from Matamoros, Tamaulipas.

Judge Recio denied bond for all three men until hearings set for Tuesday afternoon.
