Tornado warning issued for parts of Willacy, Cameron Counties

The National Weather Service (NWS) in Brownsville has issued a tornado warning for eastern Willacy County and northern Cameron County.
NWS officials said the warning is to remain in effect until 6:45 p.m. Thursday.
A TPWD Game Warden reported that a large funnel cloud possibly touched down on the ground off FM 498 and FM 1420 east of Lyford.
Radar confirmed that there was a tornado 12 miles east of Raymondville and that it was headed south at 10 mph.
According to the radar, the torando could head towards the communities of Willamar, Santa Moncia and Arroyo City in Cameron County.

NWS officials also issued a severe thunderstorm warning for northwestern Cameron County and easter Hidalgo County.
