Trailer stolen in broad daylight from church parking lot

Luis Serrata's trailer was stolen from a church parking lot

Authorities are asking for the public TMs help in finding a Brownsville man's trailer.

The trailer was last seen on October 23rd in the St. Joseph Catholic Church parking lot in Brownsville.

Luis Serrata purchased a trailer two months ago to use for activities for St. Joseph Catholic Church.

Most recently, the trailer was going to be used to bring the Virgin of Guadalupe from Mexico to Brownsville.

"They were going to bring the Virgin Mary from Matamoros across and we were going to meet them at the bridge, Serrata says.

However, Serrata would never make that trip in his trailer.

On October 23rd, the trailer was stolen at around 3 p.m.

Someone driving a black truck entered the church parking lot, snapped the metal chains and stole the trailer.

Serrata still can TMt believe this happened.

"For people to commit those kinds of crimes when people are trying to help the church, Serrata says. Then there are the evil, who come in and do bad things to the church not only to the church to the community."

Brownsville police are investigating but at this point no arrests have been made and there are no leads.

What they do have is surveillance video.

The video shows a black truck with a small sign in the door, hitching Serrata TMs $5,000 black trailer.

They have released images from the video and hope someone recognizes the person who took it.

Brownsville Police Det. Eddie Garcia encourages people with information to call Brownsville Crime Stoppers at (956) 548-7147.

He says they will remain anonymous and a reward is possible.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to contact Brownsville Police Department at (956) 548-7147.
