The triggerman in a murder-for-hire plot to kill a Rio Hondo teacher has been sentenced to life in prison without parole.
Daniel Flores Lopez appeared before Judge Arturo Nelson in the 138th State District Court on Thursday afternoon.
Lopez pleaded guilty to the murder of 39-year-old Sonia Perez.
The Rio Hondo teacher was killed in a murder-for-hire plot allegedly hatched by her preacher husband Julio Cesar Perez back in March.
Cameron County Sheriff's Department deputies arrested Julio Cesar Perez, Lopez and four other people in connection to the case.
Julio Cesar Perez is expected appear before a judge on Friday morning.
