Heavy rain showers are expected this weekend and into early next week as Tropical Depression #10 tracks to the northwest.
The tropical system is expected to be upgraded to tropical storm status before making landfall near Tampico on Sunday.
Portions of the Rio Grande Valley may see as much as five inches of rain Sunday through Monday.
A coastal flooding watch for Cameron, Willacy and Kenedy counties will be in effect from Saturday evening through Monday evening.
Expect large swells and strong rip currents at area beaches.
The chance for rain showers is expected to diminish by the middle of next week.
