      Tropical Threat in the Gulf

      NOAA Image

A coastal flood advisory is in effect until 7 p.m. Saturday in the Rio Grande Valley.

A tropical cyclone has formed in the Gulf of Mexico.

The developing low is just north of the Yucatan peninsula.

The National Hurricane Center predicts it could become a Tropical Depression as early as Friday night or as late as Saturday afternoon.

Forecast models are not yet in agreement as to where it will go, but the greatest evidence suggests this will become a tropical storm or stronger and head toward Northwestern Florida early next week.

Some computer models bring the storm closer to the Texas coast and one has consistently brought it to The Valley by Monday afternoon.
