Two arrested for weekend murder in Harlingen

Two men people are behind bars under murder charges for a shooting in a southside Harlingen neighborhood that left one man dead.

Harlingen police told Action 4 News that two suspects have been arrested in connection to the death of 27-year-old Ramiro Barron.

Paramedics rushed Barron to the hospital on Saturday evening after he was shot on the 2600 block of Knox Avenue.

The two suspects were identified 26-year-old Adrian Barrera and 17-year-old Jesus Hernandez are being held on murder charges.Both men are from Harlingen.

Investigators said detectives gathered enough evidence to link both men to the crime.

Police arrested Barrera around 10:30 p.m. Wednesday and that officers arrested Hernandez around 11 p.m. Wednesday.

Hernandez allegedly confessed to his role in the murder.

Harlingen police have not released a motive in the murder but the case remains under investigation.

Court records show that the victim had a criminal history going back several years time.

Both Barreara and Hernandez appeared before Harlingen Municipal Court Judge Michael Zanca who issued each of them $250,000 dollar bonds.
