Two former Duval County sheriff's deputies have pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute cocaine in a scheme with a patrol car.
Court records show Ruben Silva and Victor Carrillo, both formerly with the Duval County Sheriff's office, pleaded guilty Thursday in federal court in McAllen. Sentencing was scheduled for Nov. 16.
The indictment alleged that Silva and Carrillo in May arranged to use a sheriff's patrol car to smuggle more than 20 pounds of cocaine north from the city of Mission, on the border with Mexico.
The deputies were busted in an undercover operation.
A co-defendant pleaded guilty to unlawfully transporting firearms and to drug conspiracy.
