Two people have been taken to the hospital following an evacuation at a US Post Office.
The Mission Fire Department said two employees were exposed to a liquid chemical.
The McAllen bomb squad responded to the scene, and the two employees have been transported to the hospital for observation.
A HAZMAT team came in and used a chemical identifying machine, to determine it was laundry detergent
The Mission post office was evacuated on Wednesday morning as authorities have responded to the scene.
Authorities tell Action 4 News a suspicious packaged prompted the evacuation around 9:00 a.m.
Two employees were handing the package, so they were transported to the hospital for observation.
The package was being shipped commercially, and had just arrived to the Mission post office.
The label on the item was removed, prompting the investigation into the incident.
Other postal workers were bused to a nearby Chamber of Commerce temporarily.
The McAllen bomb squad assisted Mission authorities in the investigation.
The building has been temporarily evacuated as police investigate, and employees are expected to be let back in around 11:45 p.m.
