Underage man surrenders for fatal DWI wreck in Brownsville

Francisco Perez is not old enough to drink alcohol but he's now facing some sobering charges.
Perez surrendered to Brownsville police on Thursday morning for a fatal DWI wreck that took place back on Sunday, July 8th.
Investigators told Action 4 News that the 20-year-old man was behind the wheel during an accident off Boca Chica Boulevard.
Perez allegedly lost control of his Volkswagen Jetta and crashed head-on with a van in oncoming traffic.
The driver of the van was not injured but accident claimed the life of 17-year-old passenger Diane Reyes.
Both Perez and a male passenger were hospitalized and listed in critical condition at the time.
Perez has recovered but police now believe he was under the influence at the time of the accident.
Investigators decided to file intoxication manslaughter and intoxication assault charges.
Perez appeared before a Brownsville municipal court judge on Thursday morning.
Bond information was not immediately available.
