Three Rio Grande Valley congressmen caught in the middle of a shooting outside of the U.S. Capitol.
The shooting happened just after a congressional vote early Thursday afternoon.
Congressmen Ruben Hinojosa, Henry Cuellar and Filemon Vela were caught in the shooting.
The office of Congressman Hinojosa told Action 4 News that he was downtown while his staff were in the lockdown of the White House.
Spokeswoman Patricia Guillermo said Hinojosa had just left the capitol.
Congressman Cuellar and Vela were with their staff in their offices.
No one could leave or enter the area.
"We'll be doing everything we can to make sure that people at Capitol from back home are safe. We'll you informed as we hear any further information," said Congressman Vela.
The congressmen and their staff reported they were safe.
