Valley family goes door to door on Christmas searching for loved one

Ariel Moreno has been missing since Christmas Eve morning

The Starr County Sheriff's Office issued a silver alert this morning for 82-year-old Ariel Moreno who goes by "Rele" who went missing Tuesday morning.

Today, Moreno's family spent their Christmas morning going door-to-door searching for their beloved relative.

Relatives said he walked out the front door of his home on Victor Road in Escobares Christmas Eve morning.

Julie Moreno and Leslie Pena said it TMs been over 24 hours since their grandfather went missing.

"Safety overall. Is he okay? He hasn't eaten; we don TMt know if he's dehydrated by now. He hasn TMt taken his medication, he's had heart attacks in the past," said Julie Moreno listing her concerns.

Family members said Moreno's health is what worries them the most.

They tell Action 4 News Rele suffers from Alzheimer TMs, dementia, diabetes and hypertension and it TMs crucial he take his daily medication.

"We're all here as a family, we all put our festivities and gifts aside- that doesn TMt matter now. What matters is finding him-that TMs why we TMre all together here as a family," said Julie.

Starr County Sheriff's Office, Border Patrol, Texas Department of Public Safety, Escobares Fire and Police joined in the search to find Moreno.

"It's been hard. We don TMt know what to think of," said Leslie.

Julie and Leslie said it TMs been tough and while they fear the worst, they are holding out hope they will have Rele home safe for the holidays.

His family worries about him being alone out in the cold.

Moreno was last seen wearing a cap, a blue/green plaid long sleeve shirt, blue pants and loafers.
