Valley firefighter diagnosed with brain cancer

Edinburg/Mission firefighter Jaime Zapata was diagnosed with brain cancer two years ago.

Unfortunately, doctors at M.D. Anderson in Houston said they have done all they can for him and now his family wants to bring him home.

His fellow ~brothers TM are doing what they can to make this happen.

The Edinburg/Mission Fire Departments want to raise about $5,000 in the next two days.

Jaime is too week and fragile to travel by car and needs to be transported back home to the Valley via air ambulance.

"We're trying to raise some money in order to get him flown back from Houston to Edinburg where he can be in the comfort of his own family and own home," said Edinburg Fire Chief Shawn Snyder.

Snyder said he has known Jaime for years and to see something like this happen breaks his heard. He wants to make sure the Fire Department and community Jaime dedicated his life to serving can help him in his time of need.

Jaime TMs insurance will not cover the cost for any type of transportation.
