Valley murder suspect arrested in Central America

A man wanted for murder in the Rio Grande Valley is back on American soil after being arrested in the Central American nation of Belize.

Everett James Morris is facing a murder charge for the September 10th death of Jose Rodriguez Olivarez.

Deputies recovered Olivarez's body from a farm field next to the Santa Ana National Wildlife Refuge.

An investigation allegedly led deputies to Morris, who was identified as Olivarez's roommate at a home in Pharr.

Morris fled the United States but investigators received information that Morris was 1,400 miles away in the Central American nation of Belize.

The U.S. Marshals, Interpol and Belize government investigators found Morris was located in San Ignacio, Belize.

Investigators told Action 4 News that Morris surrendered to authorities at the U.S. Embassy in Belize.

Morris was flown to Houston, Texas on October 16th and will be flown to Hidalgo County today.

A motive in the murder is not clear but Morris is expected to face a judge at the Hidalgo County Jail on Tuesday morning.
