Parades, barbeques and fireworks. That's how the Rio Grande Valley residents are celebrating the Fourth of July.
Independence Day started early with parades both in McAllen, Harlingen and other Valley cities.
Hundreds of families attended the events.
Although some have to work, many Action 4 News viewers reported on Facebook that they are spending the day cooking barbeque with their family.
Fireworks displays are expected to be held in McAllen, Brownsville and Harlingen.
But the biggest fireworks display in the Valley is expected on the Laguna Madre off South Padre Island at 9:15 pm tonight.
The patriotic fireworks show is visible from most west facing buildings but South Padre Island officials reported that the best viewing is between Palm and Amberjack Streets on the Laguna Madre Bay.
