Valley veterans raise donations for OK tornado victims

Veterans donate

After seeing the tornado damage in Moore, Okla. people here at home are taking action.

Last night when members of the American Legion in Donna saw images from the devastation take place from Oklahoma, they say it reminded them of the war zone.

Veteran Joe Segura said the pictures remind him of his days in Vietnam with the U.S. Marine Corp.

"It looked like a war zone, Segura said.

To go through something like that is a horrendous experience that I wish on no one," he added.

American Legion Border Post 107 is collecting donations to be delivered to Moore.

Their efforts will help those who were caught in the twister TMs destructive path.

The post is accepting donations of non-perishable foods, water, clothing, bedding, and toiletries.

Members of the American Legion will be at their post at 318 South Main Street in Donna from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. on Friday to accept donations.

Volunteers of the Donna post will deliver the donations on Sunday.
