Water crews across the Rio Grande Valley have been busy responding to dozens of calls for frozen or leaky water pipes.
Eric Hirsch with Harlingen Water Works told Action 4 News that many people called for help after having no water at their homes.
Due to frozen pipes and with more freezing weather still in the forecast, Hirsh urges homeowners to be proactive.
"We're urging you to wrap those pipes with some type of insulation newspaper a towel maybe wrap them in plastic but probably the most important thing to prevent this problem is to turn on a faucet at the farthest reachest of the house and just leave it dripping all night long, Hirsch said.
Crews will be working throughout the morning.
If you need assistance with frozen pipes, call your local water service provider.
