Valley workers take a stand against unpaid labor

Throughout the march protesters demanded that they no longer wanted to wait to get paid for the work theyâ??ve done.

Rio Grande Valley workers and members from Fuerza del Valle gathered at the Los Fresnos library Friday afternoon where they took a stand against unpaid labor.

The Fuerza del Valle Workers Center is a south Texas-based organization that was created to build a movement for worker TMs rights.

The march for labor justice focused on the construction industry, where workers and members of the community marched for miles to get their message across.

We demand total pay for all work performed at Paseo Pointe Apartments in Los Fresnos under supervision of Galaxy Builders, Manish Verma and Pete Coronado, a flyer for the march reads. They have benefitted. Workers have not.

At the march, members of the south Texas civil rights project said more than $12,000 is owed to Valley workers because businesses refuse to pay them.

Throughout the march protesters demanded that they no longer wanted to wait to get paid for the work they TMve done.

Also discussed at the protest were rights for immigrants, healthcare and education.
