Victim's wound in Harlingen shooting are self-inflicted

Authorities are investigating the shooting incident that took place in a west Harlingen neighborhood Thursday.

According to Harlingen police, the gunshot wound from the victim are self-inflicted.

The victim told police that a group of men approached the 23-year-old outside his home on the 700 block of West Hanson Street.

According to authorities, the victim originally said one of the men fired a handgun twice. One of the bullets hit the 23-year-old on his upper left shoulder and he was taken to Valley Baptist Medical Center. Harlingen police told Action 4 News that evidence shows the gunshot wound was self-inflicted.
