Water shut off on South Padre Island for emergency repair
Update: The city of South Padre Island tweeted early Friday morning that water is back on island-wide.
Original story: The Laguna Madre Water District has shut off water to make an emergency repair, according to a notice from the city of South Padre Island.
The city estimates repairs may take three to six hours, according to Michael Jones, a longtime South Padre Island resident who received an email from the city.
The city also notified South Padre Island residents about the repairs via phone, text and a 911 alert, Jones said.
CBS 4 News reached out to the water district, which referred us to its website for further updates.
