An approaching cold front that will bring a big shift in the weather has prompted a coastal advisory.
The National Weather Service has issued High Surf, Rip Current and Coastal Flood Advisories for Cameron, Kennedy, and Willacy counties from 3 pm today until 6 pm Wednesday.
The cold front is expected to arrive with noticeable changes immediately.
Possible showers, a sharp change in temperature, and strong northerly winds sustained at 15-25 mph with gusts to 35 mph will kick in.
The consistent flow of wind combined with high tide this evening will produce minor coastal flooding through the evening, with conditions at the coast deteriorating by Wednesday afternoon.
The water is expected to possibly reach the dune line at recreational beach areas. Those with marine interests should monitor the situation.
