Wells Fargo Bank robbed in downtown Brownsville

A man is behind bars after being accused of robbing a Wells Fargo Bank in downtown Brownsville.
It all happened at the Wells Fargo Bank at 835 E. Levee St. shortly after 10 a.m. Monday.
Brownsville police reported that 22-year-old Michael Ruiz has been arrested on aggravated robbery charges.
Police reported that Ruiz had gone into the bank and demanded money, threatening that he had a gun.
Ruiz allegedly took money from a bank client and then again demanded money from another teller.
Other bank staff approached the suspect and he fled the scene.
The man did not get very far and was located in the area of East 2nd Street and East Fronton.
No injuries were reported while investigators said police were able to recover money from Ruiz.
The incident marks the third bank robbery in downtown Brownsville over the past six weeks.
Ruiz TMs mugshot is expected to be released after he TMs arraigned on Tuesday morning.
