Weslaco burglars caught on tape

Weslaco burglary suspects caught on tape

Weslaco police are asking for the public's help in finding two men for breaking into a home in an affluent Weslaco neighborhood.

On Thursday, November 7th, two burglars busted down the front door of a home on the 1500 block of Southerland Drive in Weslaco.

In less than a minute, they ran out with their television and other personal items.

The police are now releasing the surveillance video and asking for the public's help in identifying these two suspects.

The video captures a man knocking on the door just before 3:30 in the morning.

One of the burglar waited a couple of minutes, and when nobody answered, he kicked in the door.

The burlg and his accomplice were seen on surveillance camera video running inside.

Less than a minute later, they walked out with a 52 inch flat screen TV and a briefcase.

The homeowner called police after he heard the loud noise, but by the time police arrived they were gone.

"It's obvious that these guys are careless. At four in the morning they are breaking into people's houses not knowing if they are home or not, " said Weslaco police officer David Barbosa. "They can end up hurting someone. We need to catch these guys as soon as possible and are asking the public for help."

The case is still under investigation.

Police are unsure if the burglars knew what was inside beforehand or not.
