Weslaco man goes to trial one year after wife's murder

It all started on February 19, 2011.

Hidalgo County Sheriff deputies told Action 4 News that Pedro Villalobos severely beat his wife Farrah---that beating landed her in a coma and she died a week later.

A year later, Pedro Villalobos stood before a district judge, rejecting a plea deal that would send him to prison for 40 years, Villalobos prepared to go to trial

"A part of our heart is missing, Aurora Tafoya, Farrah TMs mother, said. I always miss her everyday and cry for her."

Aurora told Action 4 News she clearly remembered the day she received the phone call that Farrah was unconscious and needed to go to the hospital.

She said that day will haunt her forever.

"She didn't deserve this...she didn't deserve this...she loved him so much," Jamie Tafoya, Farrah TMs sister, said.

Jury selection was underway on Monday"the trial for Villalobos is expected to start on Tuesday.
