A Weslaco man is behind bars after he allegedly attacked and groped a woman outside a local convenience store.
Weslaco police arrested 30-year-old Rolando Rivera on a criminal attempted sexual assault charge last week.
Investigators told Action 4 News that it all happened at night at a Stripes convenience store off the corner of West Business 83 and South Utah Avenue.
Rivera allegedly walked up to the woman and asked her for a cigarette but she told him no.
Police said Rivera followed her inside the store and asked if she was going to buy any cigarette but she told him no again.
Investigators said he waited for her outside the store, groped her and tried to pull down her shorts while telling her obscene things.
Rivera fled the scene but officers investigating the case found him on West 2nd Street a little while later.
The 30-year-old man remains behind bars under a $100,000 dollar bond.
Weslaco police are asking anyone else who has been a victim of Rivera to call the Weslaco Police Department at (956) 968-8591.
