Weslaco police looking for robbery suspect with "mariachi pants"

Authorities are looking for an aggravated robbery suspect who allegedly held a sharp object to a store clerk's throat in Weslaco.

It all happened at the Stripes convenience store at the southeast corner of Expressway 83 and Texas Boulevard around 2 a.m. Monday.

Weslaco police told Action 4 News that the suspect came from behind and held a sharp object to the clerk's throat.

The suspect demanded cash and fled the scene leaving the clerk with a minor scratch to his throat.

Investigators said the suspect is a 6-foot-tall Hispanic male weighing 180 pounds with a dark complexion, black hair and brown eyes.

Police said the suspect only spoke Spanish and was last seen wearing a white button shirt and black pants with a design that a Mariachi outfit has.
