Officials are expected to hold a press conference following news that Weslaco's Knapp Medical Center has been sold to the McAllen Medical Center.
Weslaco City Manager Leo Olivares reported via Twitter that the Weslaco-based hospital had been sold.
The sale comes after more than a year of staff protests.
Hospital officials held a 4 p.m press conference at Knapp Medical Center in Weslaco.
They said the purchase will not affect services or jobs at the hospital.
McAllen Medical Center officials said the buyout would actually bring more jobs to Knapp Medical Center.
According to officials, Knapp Medical Center's CEO will be repalced in January.
