WikiLeaks targets Austin-based intelligence, security firm

WikiLeaks says it has begun publishing leaked emails from U.S. intelligence analysis firm Stratfor.

WikiLeaks says it has begun publishing leaked emails from U.S. intelligence analysis firm Stratfor.

The online anti-secrecy group says it's sitting on more than 5 million emails from the Austin, Texas-based Stratfor and that it's putting them out in collaboration with two dozen international media organizations.

How WikiLeaks got its hands on the emails remains unclear, but Stratfor said in a statement Monday that the messages appeared to be the same ones stolen by hackers over the Christmas holidays.

It condemned the disclosure as "a deplorable, unfortunate -- and illegal -- breach of privacy."

Austin, Texas-based Stratfor is a subscription-based publisher providing political, economic and military analysis to help customers reduce risk.
