Wild ride ends with criminal charges for Harlingen man
A Harlingen man is behind bars after going on a wild ride through streets and empty fields with three children inside the car.
Harlingen police arrested 22-year-old Roberto Rodriguez on Monday evening.
Investigators told Action 4 News that it all happened on 15000 block of Washington Palm Road around 6:30 p.m. Monday.
Police said Rodriguez was drunk when he argued with his girlfriend and took three children ages 5 to 9 inside his mother's Dodge Durango SUV.
Rodriguez allegedly peeled out and drove around on and off the roadway and onto empty yards at a high rate of speed within the quiet northwest Harlingen neighborhood.
Officers reported that Rodriguez appeared highly intoxicated and charged him with three counts of child endangerment.
Rodriguez remains in custody at the Cameron County Jail under $69,000 dollars in bonds.
