Two Willacy County parents faced a judge where they took responsibility for their daughter TMs death.

Both Elias and Maria De Jesus Coronado appeared before Judge Migdalia Lopez with the 197th State District Court.

The Lasara couple had removed their 16-year-old daughter Amanda Coronado TMs insulin pump back in November 2009.

They believed that she could be healed through prayer but the teen died three days later from a lack of insulin in her body.

The Willacy County District Attorney's Office reported that the girl TMs mother Maria De Jesus was declared insane at the time of the crime.

The 39-year-old mother was ordered to be committed to the maximum security unit of the Vernon State Hospital within 90 days for treatment.

Judge Lopez ruled that 45-year-old Elias Coronado was not insane and sentenced him to seven years probation for criminal negligent homicide.

Elias Coronado must also undergo outpatient counseling for mental health issues, parenting classes, cognitive classes, parenting classes and maintain gainful employment.
