Woman caught with 15 bundles of cocaine in her car

A Mexican woman is behind bars in the Rio Grande Valley after authorities allegedly discovered more than 41 pounds of cocaine hidden under the rear seats of her car.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officers arrested 23-year-old Selene Ochoa-Vargas on federal drug charges on Sunday morning.

Court records show that Ochoa-Vargas drove up from Mexico at the Pharr-Reynosa International Bridge.

The records show Ochoa-Vargas had crossed several times before but was in a different car than she normally drives.

Customs officers sent her to secondary inspection where authorities allegedly found 15 bundles with 41.7 pounds of cocaine under the rear seat of her car.

Ochoa-Vargas allegedly told investigators that smugglers bought the car and registered it in her name but it was not supposed to have drugs in it.

The 23-year-old woman told investigators that the trip was just to be for a border crossing so the plates would be registered in a CBP database and associated with her name.
