A Brownsville woman is behind bars under a $500,000 dollar bond after killing a man changing a tire during a Sunday night DWI accident.

Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) state troopers arrested 28-year-old Jessica Iris Izaguirre on an intoxication manslaughter charge late Sunday night.

Court records show that the fatal accident happened off Highway 48 and FM 511 around 10:05 p.m. Sunday.

State troopers were sent to the area investigate a two-car accident where 19-year-old Alfredo Guerrero was killed changing a tire on the side of the road.

According to court records, Izaguirre admitted to drinking alcohol before the accident and performed poorly on a field sobriety test.

Izaguirre allegedly took a personal breathalyzer test with a blood alcohol level of 0.122, well above the legal of 0.08 limit.

Records show that Izaguirre was taken to the Valley Regional Medical Center in Brownsville where state troopers had to get a warrant to forcibly get a blood sample from her.

Court records show that Izaguirre lives off Frankfurt Street in northwest Brownsville and did not appear to have a previous criminal record.

Records show that Guerrero lived in Mission but it's not clear what either he or Izaguirre were coming from or going at the time of the accident.

The Brownsville woman appeared before a Cameron County Magistrate Court judge on Monday morning where he was issued a $500,000 dollar bond.
