A beer barn employee is facing criminal charges after authorities found an illegal 8-liner gambling operation inside the rural Mission business.

Hidalgo County Sheriff's Office deputies arrested 40-year-old Marisol Ayala on a gambling promotion charge on Wednesday afternoon.

The arrest came four days after authorities raided L & M Drive Thru off Trosper Road just north of Mission.

Deputies were called to the rural beer barn after receiving a report illegal immigrants were being held at the business on Saturday.

Authorities did not find any immigrants but discovered an illegal gambling operation with 28 gaming machines.

Deputies reported seizing ledgers and $992 cash.

Ayala was working at the beer and taken into custody for questioning but released that same day.

Authorities decided to press charges against her amid an ongoing investigation into who else is connected to the underground gambling arcade.
