A McAllen woman is arrested in connection to the fatal accident on June 30th that killed five people.
It happened on HWY 100, East of Los Fresnos.
The Texas Department of Public Safety arrested 32 year old Margaret Gil.
She was the driver of a Rav4 that hit a Toyota Corolla head-on.
Four family members in the Toyota were all killed on their way to South Padre Island.
McAllen residents 32-year-old Edward Gomez, 30-year-old Erika Olaya Davila, 13-year-old Julexy Alvarez and 3-year-old Kamilla Isabel Gomez were all killed at the scene.
A passenger in Gil TMs SUV, Carmela Sanchez also died in the crash.
According to DPS, Gil was charged Thursday with five counts of Criminal Negligence Homicide.
Gil is being held without bail in the Cameron County Jail.
Trooper Johnny Hernandez tells Action 4 News the charges may be upgraded after the toxicology results are obtained.
If it is found that Gil was intoxicated, authorities say she will face five counts of intoxication manslaughter.
