A woman arriving to work at a Houston-area high school has been shot and killed by her estranged husband.
The Katy school district says the woman was shot in the back after arriving at Tompkins High School about 6 a.m. Friday. An announcement on the school's website says the woman worked in the school cafeteria.
The Houston Chronicle reported that when Fort Bend County sheriff's deputies arrived they found two coaches performing CPR on the woman.
She was shot in a parking lot at the rear of the school and taken to a hospital.
School officials say classes have not been disrupted but that parents can come retrieve their children at the school if they prefer.
The suspected shooter is barricaded at a home in Brookshire, just west of Katy.
